A nice photo of your Grandparens Ann..1920s/30s ? Your grandmother must have made her own skirt as the hem is very deep. I like detail like that in a pic.

Yes I thought it could be early twenties a time when women cut or ‘bobbed’ their hair short and wore skirts that showed a glimpse of ankle… very daring at the time. My maternal grandmother at that time wore a white blouse and skirt and short hair. Just after the 1st WW ended and became ‘ The Roaring Twenties’ .. ( mostly in America - I think Britain trailed behind unless they were part of the upper classes.)

A lovely photo Ann, so sad she passed away so young. She must have left a very young family. My maternal grandmother was 43yrs old in 1914, when she died, leaving my mother age 3, a boy age 6 and another girl age 9. So sad.

I was once presented with a large trophy, probably by one of your relatives, your John.

Helen you are very observant noticing the hem of the skirt, well done. We lasses always remember that a good hem to be let down when needed.

You're right Linma, our walking-day dresses always had a big hem to allow for us growing taller! xx
