Photograph studios must have made small fortunes during the war with these kind of photographic studies. I know my Aunt worked at the munitions factory in Beech Hill and her husband was in the RAF. I suppose her mother must have looked after the children. This one was taken in 1941 I think judging by the children's ages. It would have been sent to him I'm sure. I posted a photo of her at the head of a line of munition workers marching through Wigan during War Weapons Week.

Not keen on the thick stockings though Elizabeth. They look like they're 'lisle' stockings. I don't think they would be silk. I think it was the Yanks that brought the nylons across.
