Just how I remember your mam and dad Edna. All dressed up for the seaside. xx
I know Veronica,it's how they dressed, even for a day on the beach.Dad never without his tie, miss them so much.x
I think most men who had served in the Forces were very smart in civilian life Edna. It must have been drilled into them. My dad was the same.
Looks so similar to photos of my parents. Minnie and Jack Pennington, Hemfield Road Ince. As a family we attended Belle Green Mission. Morecambe was their favourite. Dad died at 49- Mum lived in Southport and I have lived and worked in Valencia for 30 years. Such a different life to living in Wigan?? But love my memories.
Thank you for the comment Jean, sorry to hear about your dad.He was so young, but the photos do bring back memories.I think most people who leave Wigan have fond memories.
Jean. Was your brother Jack Pennington?. If so, and he attended Spring View Boys’ School. Knew him well. Went to that school at the same time. 1945/49.
Was that the same Jack Pennington, I wonder, who was Training Officer at Parkside Colliery?
James, did you know Frank McDonald from Parkside Colliery?
Jack Pennington was my father. He went to Belle Green School as did I-His brother was Corney. Dad followed in my Grandfather´s footsteps as a Signwriter and decorator.I was born in 1938. Dad was born in 1908 and died ini 1957.
