Veronica: A beautiful bride, and a very proud Dad.
Thank you John G and Laura dear we caught the 20 30 to Blackpool, the Ketchworth train wasn't running, whatever would Dolly dear have thought!
Pass me the smelling salts!
Veronica, a beautiful photograph, your Dad looks very proud. I have two daughters and on their wedding day I think it's probably the poignant time, everyone else has left to go to church just you and your daughter; not a lot of words spoken but a1000 things are saId ! From that day forward you realise that the relationship with your daughter will be completely different, just as close of course, but different. There's a beautiful irish song on YouTube 'On Your Wedding 'Day, I hope you listen to it.
A nice girlie face decked in soft, heavy, Wedding Day fabric, while Dad holds a hand. I must say, Veronica, the position of your Dad's feet and his relaxed bonny chest don't half remind me of 'Bjorling on the concert platform'.
Beautiful photo this Veronica. The old girls school, what stories we could tell from inside those walls!!
Thanks Tom, Edna and Philip, I do think there was a bit of the Viking about my dad, but he couldn't sing a note. I think most of Lancashire are descended from the Norse people though.. It was 'red hot ' that day.
A lovely photo ! Much prefer the wedding dress style here than the strapless kind that seem to be favoured now.
I know what you mean Elizabeth, some dresses today are more like ball gowns- ready for the evening 'do'. We did things differently then didn't we just. The top of the dress is guipure lace all bought from Harts and made by a seamstress around the corner from where I lived , it was beautiful.
I need a sherry or two...
