Adrian. Were they really called the Loyal NLR (I would hope they were loyal !) or is this a misprint for Royal ?
Its correct according to the official websites. Loyal North Lancashire Regiment.
The name is correct, my dad was in the regiment, he was a 'D Day Dodger,' he served in North Africa, Italy and finally in Palestine.
Brilliant photo. My grandad is standing first left. His name Simon Stirrup he also went in to the Manchester regiment served in Burma. Thanks for posting.
Hi Dave,
Ive posted a few more pics of this bunch of pals in Burma. If your grandad isnt amongst them he would certainly have known them !
Great pic Adrian I am also a grandson of Simon Stirrup that Dave mentioned I wondered if you had any more pics of either Loyal north Lancs or Manchester regiment. We have researched Simon's war service and are happy to share the bit we have in common if you would like it?
I have posted the best photos of george Myers in Burma/India? on here, but i am still working through more wallets of photos. I would love to know more about where the Manchesters were stationed during the war as i havent researched this bit ! (email attached.. i can also send u a couple more blurry shots).
