John Staveley the son of George Staveley of Aysgarth was born in Horwich 1848 and served his apprenticeship as a pattern maker at Haigh Foundry around the time that John Scarisbrick Walker was serving his apprenticeship in the drawing office. John was one of Walker Brothers (Wigan) Ltd first employees and served as Chief Pattern Maker for over 40 years
