Kevin. As I have never been a scout. For what achievement is the Rathbone Cup presented.

The photograph was taken outside the old scout hut on Liverpool Rd ,Ashton in July 1971.It was when a international camp was taking place with German,Irish and Ashton scouts and the Rathbone cup was presented to the Ashton scouts for winning a sports day against the other troops.
If memory serves me right the sports day was held on the athletics pitch at the front of Ashton Grammar school.
The cup was donated as a prize by Rathbone`s bakery after being approached by the scout committee.
I do remember the German scouts gong wild for Rathbones bread( honestly ).They had never tasted soft ,sliced bread before.
And they also went mad for Frederick`s ice-cream when Austin Frederick ( Tony ) rolled up in his 3 wheeler every afternoon.

The cup is being presented by Gordon ? Caesar to scout leader Jack Burns. The scouts I can recognise are :
Front L-R Damian McEntaggart,Gary Porter,David Wiseman,Darryl Makinson,Jonathon Butler,Kevin McGarry,Tony Fearns,David Jolley,Kevin Duffy

Back L-R David Shirley,Phil Cunliffe,Kevin Webb,Ian Aitken,Peter Burns,Tony Siney,Derek Pearce,John Rennox.
I`d be grateful if anyone can remember the names of the other scouts.Sorry if I got any of the names wrong
