Ashton scouts around 1974/75 on the market at Ashton.
I`d be grateful if anyone could supply any names
Despite the distance, focus on the inside file nearest the camera. Chris Eaton(brown socks); Graham Hatch in front of scout in red socks; and Julian McEntegart behind the red socks. Jack Burns at the back. Across from G Hatch could be Ross Hodge and Jeremy Noy.
Tony ,I think you`re right. After a close look I think I can see David Shirley on the far side behind the flag bearer and behind him Michael Leech. This would put the date at around 1972
Kevin, 'Red Socks' is of course, Keith Holland, and I can see Michael Leech after all these years and Bassey as well. David Jolley could be next to Taggart and I might be behind him (not sure 'cos Julian and I are only a fortnight apart. Do you remember when the Germans and Irish came in '71, I can to your house for Sunday lunch with your dad and a German scout.? You had tales and programmes from Old Trafford. Tell him thank you if he is still with us. Tell him thank you anyhow.
Tony my Dad remembers it well the day you came to our house .
Brendan Byrne (from the Irish scouts) and Bernardt Neuheisell
(spelling ?) were with you and you all went to Knowlsley Safari Park. He hopes you are well.
Incidentally all the cine films my dad took of the Summer camps were put on disc and now thanks to Mick Pilling can be viewed on U-Tube. They are broken down into about 14 parts 1962- 1976. I`m sure you`ll be on there somewhere
Brilliant. Tell Skip that Jimmy Ferns is alive and kicking, thanks to Christies in Manchester. We went on a Liverpool safari on the opening day; a quid to get in and it was a sell out. There was a commotion up ahead. A push bike rider shouting that he wanted a discount - before he met the lions! Brilliant. You couldn't make it up. Once again, thank you for your kindness. Both my sons are scout leaders in Southgate, London.
Great to see the photo which brings back many memories! I have a few pictures somewhere so will dig them out and post them. Cheers ALL Chris
