A brass band welcome and hundred of townsfolk produced a carnival atmosphere when Ashton scouts arrived at the international campin Jagerburg,West Germany.Already so many German people have invited the English lads to their homes that there are not enough scouts to go round.
The Ashton lads travelled in pouring rain through England and France but there was a warm dry welcomein Germany where the temperature was about 80 degrees farenheit.
On Sunday morning all the scouts went to church parade with the Ashton scout band leading the way. The colourful Jagersburg town band played for hours at the opening ceremony in the afternoon.
Writing from the camp ,Ashton scout official Mr TedPierce says "The German people are wonderful hosts. They are inviting the scouts and their leaders into their homes all the time ."
Stood just in front of Jack Burns. A great time with German and I think Irish scouts.
