This was a bit of a disaster for Fred,the chimney for dropped by vandals during the night,so he dropped the lift shaft instead,this went badly wrong too,this was 1982,Fred and Alison were to separate in 1985.

Where exactly was Laburnum Mill ?

Laburnum mill was not far from Atherton rail station,a side road off Newbrook road.there had been a raffle for who would light the fire to drop the chimney,Fred had a call during the night,to tell him the fire was alight,he said it was too late the chimney would fall within a few minutes.
