The cinema was the PRINCESS
John, your Mum and Dad always look so smart, even in inclement wheather such as on this day, they look the part.
Thanks Ron for the information. I guess you spent a lot of holidays as a child in Blackpool as well!
I love this picture showing us the fashions and cars of the time.
Tom thank you for the comments. I think many of their era dressed in their Sunday best on holidays and days out. It was the done thing with the men wearing suits or slacks, Jackets, shirts and ties and even hats, the ladies wearing their best and makeup even on the beach. These were days to remember and savour.
Much smarter than the tourists seen in Blackpool today, loud, drunk and covered in tatoos.....and thats just the women !!! Time was you paid a tanner (thats sixpence to you youngsters), to see the Tattoo'd Lady at the Fair, now they're seen everywhere, free of charge, whether you want to see them or not.
Photo taken on Waterloo Road outside the Bull Hotel - a popular spot for Street Photographers. The cinema in the background is the old Waterloo Cinema, closed in 1955.
