Philip, Thomas was born in 1903, he was my great uncle.
Thanks Hindley Colin, but I have my grandfathers birth certificate at home, he was definitely born in 1903, in Wigan. These photos were in my fathers tin box and I would like more information on his life if possible, but thank you for your comments
The men appear to be wearing Second World War tropical
issue uniform.
On the 1911 census there is a Thomas Holland aged 8
who is the son of James, a coalminer hewer and his wife
Mary, born Wigan. There are 7 children altogether in the family. Address is 44 Lyon Street. Thomas married a
Caroline Jacobs in March 1922.
Thank you heritagelass, that was indeed my grandfather who lived at 44 Lyon Street. However, he married a Elizabeth Fairhurst in 1926, I have the marriage certificate. It is interesting that there is a Thomas married to Caroline Jacobs, I will do more research to see what branch of the family that might be. I have quite a few photos of my grandad in uniform, but can't find anyone who knows the men he is with
I'm tracing my family tree. My grandmother was Lavinia Holland and I believe her father was James Holland of Wigan. Grandmothers DOB was 07/12/1896. Could thid be some relation
Hi Joe, will do some research and get back to you regarding the Holland connection
