Mum and Dad at Lillian Melling and Gordon Matthew's wedding

Before Doreen Critchley and Alan Hankin were married the photo was taken at Lillian and Gordon's wedding on 14th December 1946 at St Cayharine's Church Scholes. It was obviously a cold and foggy afternoon. Mum and dad were married in June 1947 and I was born in October 1948. I have been friends with Lillian and Gordon's daughter Sheila since we were children and still see her regularly in Wigan, usually Neros.

looks a miserable foggy day its a great picture great that after all this time we are still in touch think our parents would be pleased

lovely photo john,i was married at wigan registery office when it was near princes cinema, it was february 1971,it was 9 am and a similar look to your pic slightly foggy but wonderfull.
Is this the same Mr&Mrs matthews who aso had a daughter Julie and lived in Gorden St?

Debrah, yes it is the same Lillian and Gordon. Julie has an older sister, Sheila andd a brother David. If you look under Album, People, Matthews you will find more info there.
