Lovely to see a photo of your dad as I remember him John,he used to give me a lift home from Jack Almonds,he had a green Triumph Toledo, and a green Vauxhall with a bench seat, and column change.Always made me brush all the sawdust off me before I got in his cars were always spotless.I worked with you uncle Ernie to many times when we did work for Lion Breweries.
Nice to see the photos John.
Hello David, nice to hear from you. Dad loved working at Jack Almonds in Rose Bridge, he particularly enjoyed the variety of work, making window frames and stairs then fitting on site, he hated the mundane. Jack thought the world of him and he was a very good joiner, in fact he could turn his hand to most things. I miss him tremendously since he died in 2004. Uncle Ernie, who had been unwell for a while died a month later. They were very close and he seemed to give up after dad died. Mum died in January this year. The green Triumph Toledo was my car which I sold to him when our first baby was born, it being only a two door. The other car you refer to was a jade green Ford Corsair and it did have a front bench seat and column change. He bought it from Jacksons showrooms at the bottom of Wigan Lane. I married in 1973 and he lent me the Corsair to go on honeymoon to the Lakes. Not many tradesmen like my dad left now.
