Back in the late seventies and early eighties, photography was not a great place for the creative and conscientious.
I was a very serious portraitist with a studio in Wigan and my biggest concern was the abysmally poor quality of Kodal EP2 colour printing materials, they had about an eight year life before images faded beyond recognition.
Perhaps I was the only photographer in the world, who instead of just being upset about it, did something.
After weeks of research I decided to start shooting my portraits of Fuji Transparency film and to present my images on Cibachromes that I mounted onto canvas. I think Rachael was about six when this portrait was created, I since photographed her wedding in 2006. The 20x 16" canvas still looks as good as the day it was delivered almost three decades ago.
