Uncle Joe could play many a tune on a piano, a wonderful man with a great dry sense of humour.
uncle Joe came to our house in Catherine Tce,, regular. always on his bike,
I agree Cyril i remember uncle Joe very well,,,used to visit most weeks us at Catherine Tce,, on his bike. he went everywhere on his bike,,,,,
He was an owd sod who never washed a cup in his life and couldnt play a piano.
But he did have a big bike bike with a cushion tied to the crossbar for me to sit on.
Mick for someone who you say couldn't play a piano he did very well at Doreen and Tony's wedding reception at St George's hall, and I've heard that he played the piano at the Sharrock's house on Lord Street.
Cyril he never played a piano at our house but having said that we never had one.
I agree with my brother Mick.Joe would send us out in all weathers to tramp the two miles to St maries Church on Sundays saying that he would "keep the fire warm for us". For a so called devout irish catholic, I only knew him enter one church in my life and that was to give away Teresa Jolley when she was married. Afterwards he said to me, his only daughter at the time, "Never again".He was lazy and had no knowledge of music except trying to play the spoons. Whose wedding was it that he played the piano???
Joe was a regularly visitor to our house on his bike, Teresa is my sister
this is my uncle as well. He was my dads brother, he visited us a lot in Peel St, My dads name was Jimmy.
