Hi Janie, I've found an Army Service Record for a John William Perry of 58 Brookhouse St, Wigan, husband of Louisa Victoria Perry, but this man served in the Medical Corps and Labour Corps, not the Border Regt. If this was your father, let me know, and I will see what I can find for you.

In 1998 I wrote to Ministry of defence, CS(RM)2b, Bourne Avenue, Hayes, Middlesex, UB3 1RF. They sent me my Dad's full WW1 records, including his being wounded. Now, they probably have a web site. Incidentally, when he was wounded, he went to a convalescent home in Blackpool where he met my Mum.

If the John William Perry mentioned above isn't your father, you may be able to obtain a copy of his record from the National Archives:-

About two thirds of WWI Records were destroyed by fire in in WWII during the Blitz though.
