I know its not Wigan but its just to show that some kids went on holiday in their School uniform cos they had nowt else to wear this is about 1962 I am on the left (St Williams Ince)my Brother Bill on right (Cardinal Newman Hindley)

I agree.....nearly every family has a photo taken at Blackpool with the tower coming out of someone's head! I have a book of photos of Blackpool in the sixties...girls with sticky-out skirts and rollers in their hair under headscarves, and sideshows advertising "Monsters from Outer Space....On Show Now"! They swept it all away after the sixties, calling it crude and tacky...it was innocent compared with today.

Lot of people today won't believe or understand, but years ago, for a lot of people, their school uniforms were their BEST clothes...

Yes Janet,my Mam said all Schools should have uniforms,that way even the poorest of kids would feel as good as the next.

Not much has changed in Blackpool, only peoples attitudes.
