A great photo. To coin a phrase there's always a "lad".
What a surprise, the lad in the photo is my father who worked for the lewis family for a long number of years. My mother also cleaned for Mrs Lewis known as Cissy although her name was ann. My mother also nursed Cissy through her terminal illness. Sorry not to have been in touch sooner but Iam only on line through the library. Many thanks Sheryl.
Hello Sheryl further to my comment above. The photograph is 1921 or 1922. My father worked for the Lewis family for 16 years and my family lived next door to them for 33 years. I also knew Chris's family when they lived in Lurdin Lane, in one of the two houses owned by the farm. Your photogaraph is the only one I have seen of my father so young. I have a photograph of Bert Lewis as a much older man roughly when he was in his 60s. If it is possible to put it on the web site through the library I will do so, but will be in a few days or so. I may also have one of Cissie, if so I will include this.
This is wonderful news David! How wonderful for you also to have this photo of your dad so young. I know how you must feel. I look forward to anything you may add further. If it suits you better you can email me as above. Either way is fine. Regards Sheryl
Congratulations Sheryl for bringing something so special to David that money can't buy. Thanks must also go to Wigan world for making this possible.
