This is Annie Ward (widow age 25) with her children Connie, Alan, Sam, Ison and Vincient. The latter two being girls. Just after this photograph was taken, Annie met James Magnall and had a further five children.

I am sure Christine Ward knows all this but I have a bit of info on this family. It looks like the photo was taken around 1902-03, probably in Derbyshire.

Annie Ward was 37 in 1911, born in 1874 at Clowne, Derbyshire (inbetween Chesterfield and Worksop).

Her two eldest, Alan and Constance were born in 1895, Samuel in 1897, Ison in 1899 and Vincent in 1900 all are born in Clowne.

In 1911 she and her children are living with James Magnall at 9 Factory Fold, Ince. James (b.1868) is from Platt Bridge. Both James and Annie say they are widowed.

James has three children in 1911, James H (b.1904 in Clowne), Thomas D (b.1907 in Worksop) and Harold (b.1910 in Ince). So at least until 1910 James was living in Derbyshire.

Eric, Yes I did know but I only have just paid £25 to go into 1911 census, wish I had joined you earlier. You may notice I am called Ward but Harold, my husbands dad, was fathered by James Magnall, it being my mother in law, Mabel, who realised Harold was illegitimate so took Annie`s first marriage to Henry Ward as her surname. We all have sons and grandsons with the wrong family name so I thought I would put James up where he rightly belongs and the father of 3 sons. Many thanks for your information and time.
