This is me ( small girl in my dads arms)my dad Cliff Prior with my mum Evelyn Prior and other wigan families as we set off to emigrate to Hobart Tasmania. My parents and co were going to be employed at a new textile factory in Hobart.I grew up in Hobart. We were there from 1958 to 1976.

Yes Roy, you are right. It was Carrington and Dewhurst. The textile firm in Tasmania was Silk and Textiles. My dad was supervisor in the weaving shed and mum was a cloth examiner in the warehouse. They had to work opposite shifts to look after me as I was only 4. Nice to hear from you Roy.

I am now in Wales. But I keep in contact with Tassy, Sadly I have lost mum and dad since returning to UK.

Long time between drinks Mildred, I remember you leaving for Tassie. I also remember getting into trouble for making you cry for some reason. I lived at number 33 just opposite in Latham Lane. Andrew D
