My Granny Bryson, my mother & her friend from Wigan, Jane Gaskell. The little boy is my brother Ian Bradshaw. My Mother was home from India on ' leave' You were allowed to come home for 6 months every 2 or so years. I'm not sure about the seaside place where the photp was taken, Southport would have been the nearest. Does anyone have any ideas from the building in the background ? Obviously somewhere you could get a car on a beach.

hi there, Helen, the structure at the rear of the pic is the big dipper(rollercoaster) I believe that it was only removed last year. The beach where the pic was taken looks like being near what was the Peter Pan Playground. This has now gone and been replaced by another shopping precinct.

Thanks Fred. I remember Southport from childhood, Lord St, the lido & the fact that the tide went out a long way & it left hard ripples in the sand that hurt your bare feet.
