Most likely in the 1930s. The trams have gone, cars are increasing in number and the growth of retail businesses make the High Street look more like it does today. The owner of the bicycle is probably buying pies at Cooper&Nelmes; the elegant building behind the car(it became a shoe shop but now a take-away) is Rushton’s Grocers; the building at the corner of School Lane(now the Co-op) is the Wheatsheaf Hotel which was demolished in 1985.
