Dicconson Lane Station near Aspull. It was one of two stations on the Bolton avoiding line between Dobbs Brow near Hindley and Blackrod. The station shut in 1954 and the line closed in 1969. The Station was on the left of Dicconson lane heading from Aspull up to the A6. The embankment is still there but the bridge (visible behind the loco) has long since been removed.

I never knew there was a station on Dicconson Lane although you can still make out where the bridge crossed the road.

Yes, that's the road bridge behind the loco

In the distance the signal box can be seen - the straight line went on to Manchester via Daisy Hill;the right fork went down to Crow Nest Junction and Hindley North station.

The bridge used to have some advertising painted on it, I can't remember what it was, but I think it was AVON TYRES on one side & FERODO BRAKES on tuther
