David is this the back of the spencers rd photo, with the group of children on? Trying to imagine the houses.I remember Pearl Holmes who went to Digmoor school living in a cottage on the right in Spencers lane,if you went from Daniels lane.

David I`m almost certain that this photo is of the houses on Daniels Lane (not Spencers Lane). In fact I believe the row of houses shown is the terrace of 5 houses nos 67 to 75 inclusive, no. 67 being almost opposite Digmoor Chapel. Am I correct in saying you lived at no 73 in your early years or possibly one house either way? I know your father lived there one time. The house far right is no.57 (more a cottage) then beyond that going up a little track at right angles to Daniels Lane was a terrace of 4, nos 59 to 65. The houses shown had small rear yards with a footpath running all around the block. The land where the boys are playing cricket was later, in my days, back gardens to the houses. For about 3 years from around 1960 I delivered orders for your dad, Brian, on a bike with metal frames front and rear to hold the orders. I also knew your mum Dorothy and your grandfather Dickie. I remember your grandmother also but only knew her as Mrs Roughly. I delivered your grandparents order to the bungalow they had built just above the shop backing onto the Bowling Green Hotel`s bowling green. As far as I`m aware the bungalow is still there today.

Do you know, I think you're right James. I remember that the houses all had wash-houses behind, but as you say the land was divided up for gardens which is how it was when I was young.
We lived at no75, which is just out of shot to the left.
Alice and Lizzie Lawson lived at No 67, Johnny Arrowsmith at No 69, Nellie Abrams at No 71 and Fred and Tellie Lockwood at No 73.
The cottages to the right I think will be nos 30-34, next to the church where Barbara Sharrock (34) and Joe and Jenny Lawrence (32) lived.
I remember that bike being propped up in the back room of the shop but it disappeared when the shop shut
Mum's still going, she's 85 in a fortnight.
If you leave me an email I'll send the original scans over.

That would be much appreciated David. My email is JAMES29147@ aol.com. I think you`re right with the cottage facing on the right, most likely Joe Lawrence`s. Whenever I got a puncture on the delivery bike or something else wasn`t right I had to take it to Joe for repair.
