This is a better resolution and closer perspective on the landscape view to Withington Lane and whilst they are very similar I've put this in because of the detail you can see of the Wutchey. It does look very rough and very much like an active slag tip or one only very recently left alone. And it looks a bit bigger from here even than it does now with the trees all overgrown. I suppose it's not seen from this angle much.
The top row and bottom row houses are quite clear and look in good condition from here - we lived about halfway down the bottom row for a few years in the early 1960s.
The dark buildings between the rows are a mystery to me. There was one big house at the top end of the bottom row with a barn opposite which are still there along with a newly built stone house in the field, but the positions of these do not seem to tally with those of the dark buildings. They seem to be on a line with the pig farm but those buildings weren't high like these.
If you can scan along the bottom row it doesn't look like the golf course has made it across the brook yet either and the fields don't look like pasture.
The first house at the top of the bottom row is actually the back end of a corner pub on this side of Withington Lane. This was derelict when we were kids there and a good place to play in.
The top row has gone now of course and is a single house or two houses together. The pig farm was Liptrot's I think.
I reckon this is quite a rare picture.
