Another good one Ian, the changes are quite mesmerizing. I was out of the country for much of that time until 2003 so its good to see that someone was recording it.
That section of road on the left on River Way looks set to be opened and Powell Street opposite The Whitesmiths with the buildings demolished is being widened into a dual carriageway.
The plot of land at the front first had a huge Co-op Hypermarket constructed but never did well and its now Buzz Bingo.
The little Spiritualist Church on Crompton Street still survives to this day.

Interesting enough I drove down Riversway last week and the Council were replacing the steel lighting columns. I was wondering why on earth why as they don’t seem that old - but when you view this picture you can perhaps understand that the original Riversway columns are now nearly 40 years old!!!!
