Newspaper cutting showing the rather forlorn view of St Mary's Church Is there anything more sad than seeing a church in this state?

I have never seen inside that church. It was where my maternal grandmother and grandad were married in 1921. How sad.

It was a very large and tall Church,
Veronica. Now houses are built there.

My brother Colin was married there in December 1961; his wife was from Spring View. I was their nine-year-old bridesmaid.

My wife and I were stood at the altar there in 1977 to be married.
I hadn't noticed whenever in there, but looking on the photo it does appear that the building is twisted with subsidence.
I wouldn't have thought that they would have built houses there, as I'd been told it was a big fault line that runs under there that caused the subsidence, and it also affected St Catharine's in Scholes too.
