Located between the canal and the river Douglas, at the bottom of Chapel lane The early history of the chapel is uncertain but it is of some considerable age. It has existed on this site for several centuries and was rebuilt in 1821.The chapel was demolished in 1875 and the stone from the chapel was used to build the original Parbold School. It is said that the chapel was damaged during the Civil War by the Parliamentary forces who stabled their horses in it at the time of the seige of Lathom House.
Thanks to J.M Virgoe for the image

Thanks Ron, you have answered my question posed on the previous picture.
When you say the location is this Chapel Lane Wigan or is there one at Parbold? It would seem a long way to transport the stone from Wigan to Parbold when there was a quarry close by with stones to build Haigh Hall.
