It’s still a lovely view even with the tar-mac. Doesn’t look much later to me than the previous photo.
I hope it is OK to post these 2 transport pictures of lorries on Parbold
Hill on to the Old Time Lorries section of TrucknetUK. Ray
You’re perfectly correct Veronica . I’m unable to give you any precise dates for either of these shots , but I’m reckoning mid 50s to mid 60s .
And Ray , please feel free to do whatever you like with the photos , but I’d like to make it clear that neither of these shots actually comprise part of my intellectual property , so I’d be obliged if you didn’t credit them to me.
Cheers mate .
I started my apprenticeship in 1960 on the Farington assembly line and this was a familiar site but never saw a weighted trailer. The test weights were on the chassis, even the short units where they could only carry a couple of weights. When I worked on road test we were in the Leyland area and as far as Shaw hill. Never heard of Parbold or Red Rock being used. Perhaps it may have been research department. Great photos Ozy.
Trailer is bending like a banana.
This is a draw bar trailer ?
Struggling up thill, 10MPH.
