Those little bottles on the middle shelf top right of photo with the foils around the cap look to be Barley Wine, they may have been little bottles but they packed a right punch and could give you a hangover for days afterwards, if you drank too many mixed with bitter that is.

Yes, Cyril, I would say they were little "nip" bottles of Gold Label Barley Wine. I loved it! The last time I saw it, it was only available in cans from Morrison's and was rather expensive. But it certainly packed a punch!

Always drank Barley Wine in the Park Hotel at Christmas. I think it was only on sale around Christmas time? It was quite expensive then. I think I mixed it with a gill of something??? But it was quite strong... Do people still ask for a GILL???? I bet most bar people today, have no idea what a GILL is<g>
