Does anyone know what the large building was? It is before you reach the road bridge coming from Wigan. So it isn't the "Bone Works" or the "Lino Works"???

It is the Borno and then the next building is Appley bridge brick works.
The swing bridge is on a public footpath, but Borno dumper trucks used to go over it and dump next to the Dougie the bits of animals they didn't want.

Definitely the Bone works always good for fishing due to warm water being pumped into the canal

But! As I remember, there was always an unpleasant odour.
One of my great aunts lived in Appley Bridge, in an old cottage, which was quite large and possibly could have once been a farmhouse, next to the canal and very close to the stone bridge. I cycled, quite a number of times, along the canal and past the bone works, to visit her.
