IF ANYONE HAS ANY INFORMATION PLEASE LET ME KNOW.
Perhaps a long shot here Ron . There was once a row of terrace houses here occupied by miners from Prospect pit . They were owned by the Oddfellows .
The field behind the pyramid was used to bury human waste from the middens . There was an outbreak of Typhoid fever in 1922 .
It was the Oddfellows Association that installed the first water closets in the village .
Maybe the pyramid has some masonic significance .
poet, the Pyramid is shown on a 1849 map of the area. So I don't think it was built by the ODDFELLOWS organisation. But as you say it could have some Masonic significance??
It could also be an example of Egyptomania.
In England in the first couple of decades of the 19th century, there was a craze for anything related to Ancient Egypt.
This influenced furniture styles, and also led to the construction of follies in the shape of pyramids and temples.
