From the Wigan Observer's report on the dedication ceremonies for the five plaques unveiled in July 1920 in the wider Standish area, including the one for John Pit, Taylor Pit, and the Slack-Washer.
Note the end of the sentence at the top - which was anticipating the closure of the pits and the expectation that the plaques would find new homes. Most (9) have ended up in the care of the Church, Aspull RBL has six, Leigh Library has one, one is still in situ in Westhoughton, and one is still on mining-related premises (Clock Face) - but two are missing altogether (Meadow and Lindsay/ Alexandra).

The Clock Face memorial plaque is shown on this site, along with a lot about Wigan Coal and Iron.

This is the site referred to in my above post -
https://www.suttonbeauty.org.uk/suttonhistory/clockfacecolliery/
It's also in this Album - under Assorted - War Memorials.

That may be the case, but the Sutton Beauty site has a lot of interesting information about Wigan Coal and Iron to back the photo up, whereas 'the album' only has the photo. Although, it would seem that a certain amount of the information is copied gossip.
