It was Green's butchers Peter, there are some comments about the Bull heads at Green's on this photo on the Album (although of King's.) No idea when they was removed, but a comment says they was because of dirt, maybe the Health Dept. had told them. https://www.wiganworld.co.uk/album/photo.php?opt=3&id=4015&gallery=Market+Hall%252C+Indoors&offset=0
They were a rum lot on that stall, there was talk of them many a time gluing coins to the market hall floor in front of the stall and having a laugh at folks trying to pick them up.
i remember going in there as a youngster and one of stalls had the biggest pair of knickers i have ever seen hanging over one of stalls, having said that i won't commit myself to having seen lots of draws.
See Dave Allen £10 note comedy sketch on Utube.
Sorry Cyril it was me re Dave Allen post.
Glad to see this photo of the bulls heads.I have asked and commented about them before but no one seemed to remember them.Wish it was a bit more clear but thanks Peter.
No problem Jack, Dave Allen was one of the great comedians of the 1960s and '70s, it seems very strange to see the repeats of these comedy shows on TV now with with the warnings of them containing offensive material - folks just laughed at the funny content then, and never gave any thoughts of offensive material.

I remember the bulls' heads well, and the door underneath that led through to the fruit market.
Different times now Irene, you can't even buy a banana.x
