those were the days, a large market square, you could park for free and go shopping in the many shops in town and go to silcocks when it was on. A total lack of ideas has led to the 1980's building being knocked down to be replaced by non-descript flats. Chorley knocks spots off Wigan, better shops, free parking and no expensive shopping mall

As a TLS scholar aged 12/13, i was stood near the side entrance to JMc Hall near to where the pit wheel is situated now, a brilliant view of the Queen and her entourage, the one and only time i've seen her in real life.
