I remember the Lyric cinema well. I used to go to the Saturday afternoon children's shows in the late 1940s, Flash Gordon & Roy Rogers stuff.. I went with my friend Carol Dickinson whose grandfather was one of the Co owners, he & his brother were builders & lived near us in Ormskirk Rd , Holland Moor. My sister & I were allowed to go on a Saturday night sometimes & after the show would walk home up the long flight of steps, over the field to Hall Green & home.
