When I was first married in 1974 I worked at Debenhams and got paid weekly on a Friday and my wages were in a little brown envelope. Peter used to pick me up from work and we went straight to Lennon's for our shopping.
I don't know where you're getting these recent posted pictures of mine from Ron but the originals are a lot better quality. Please contact me and I'll put the originals on.
Ah that's lovely and sweet memories Irene you never forget.
Hi Frank sorry I didn't know they were yours I've had them on my computer for ages Someone, who had problems uploading pictures sent them to me to put on the site a few years ago and I never got around to doing it.
This photo is already on here by you Frank, Item number 31094.
My grandparents in Bamfurlong had a car just like that Toyota Celica - theirs was bright yellow - there weren't many of them around. Makes me wonder if that was them. It's a nice thought.
A nice pic of Lennons.
Am I right in thinking it was later a Kwik Save?

You're right there Darren, Toyota's and Datsun's were as rare has hens teeth in Wigan at that time, yet go a few miles to Golborne, Newton Le Willows and Warrington they always got snapped up at the used car lots. At that time we had a yellow Toyota Corolla, though with always missing out at the car lots we got that one from Moons, it was very reliable and so we stuck with Toyota's except for a time we had a Datsun Violet before once again returning to Toyota.
Lennon's, the St.Helens supermarket chain.
Triumph 2000 Mk1 outside Lennons, it may even be a 2.5PI (petrol injection) that was not very reliable.
The car we are in is a Hillman Avenger.
Went in there regular never did see John or Yoko.
I think that car on the right could be a Datsun sunny.
DarrenH may well be right with Toyota Celica Julie, compare the photo to one of an early Celica here:

Both Datsun Sunny and even their Cherry were similar in design to this.
Cyril, our car is a Toyota Corolla,my hubby passed away in October,it's still on the driveway,I can drive but the insurance on it is very high,it's about 22years old,it never let us down, always went sailing through its MOT,it will have to go for scrap but I can't let it go just yet..it's been a marvelous car..it's so sad to see it just standing there..my hubby kept it looking immaculate.
