I think the lad serving right in the centre of the photo is one of the Caulwell (spelling?) brothers. I remember the stall well.
Is this the stall that had the big bulls head hanging on the wall, and I think a lady in a booth behind the stall who handled all the money ?
Carolean,
Or was that COWARD’S BUTCHERS?
Helen, I think you're right....I think it WAS Coward's.
Definitely Greens butchers that had the bulls head mounted on the corner of the stall.
Just checked with my brother who worked there for a short while in early 1960s.
Best pork sausages of all time.
Greens had 2 bulls heads on their premises , they took them down because they were full of bird muck, making them difficult to clean ,
It looks like Patrick caulwell
Greens had a bulls head on top of entrance to shop between poles, also had a bulls head on top of a small stall opposite , This was new signage they put up after the bulls heads were taken down , David Devine had the job of keeping them clean with an handbrush and a couple of mutton cloths .
