Which song are they definitely not dancing to?
I say Agadoo by Black Lace.
I hated the pretentious hippy movement, it was so shallow. I was 17 at the time of this festival, and I was in the middle of a 5 year apprenticeship; to be brutally honest, I hated it...it was where I didn't really want to be. That said, it stood me in good stead for later life. Looking at these characters now makes me cringe; and I don't think drugs had anything to do with it...There were some right prats in those days, masquerading as hippy flower people. Most of us liked the music but didn't have the time (and money) to behave like this, or have the freedom to. Embarrassment comes to mind. You didn't wear the clothes your fathers wore - but you were brought up to know what was right and what was naff. Notice the girl walking through the mud: probably cursing under her breath: ' silly pillocks...'
Hi Jarvo, long time no hear. Still a fan of the 'Old golds' I presume ?
Jarvo, I don't think you've ever been 17
I doubt she was thinking 'silly pillocks !' as she was walking round in a maxi-coat !
They're definitely not dancing to 'Shang-a - Lang' either by the Bay City Rollers !Then again, who would !??
Jarvis,
One thing for sure is that there are some even bigger prats around today. There was an air of innocence back then, most at the festival worked just like you and me,this was a little escapism,no violence ,everyone having a good time (despite the rain).....Peace Man.
Sorry, that should be Jarvo, not Jarvis. (trying to type without me glasses on,big mistake ).
