Nice group of young men, but what was the dogs name?

I bet the dog's name was Bonzo or Prince....they all had names like that back then. Now, you hear people shouting "Bert" or "Stan", or "Henry" and assume they're talking to the man of the house, and it's the dog!

A dog in our street had the same name as Guy Gibson's dog.

Don't know the the dog's first name but he was almost certainly another "barker".

Trixie too was also a popular name for dogs in the 1950s and '60s, I remember a family who lived at Pemberton who had a cat named Sooty, they then moved to live at Boars Head and for some reason, possibly a plum in the mouth, the cat's name became pronounced Sutty.

It's strange how we remember dog's names from the past. I remember one belonging to the corner shop called Pal it was a 'dirty' little dog always trying to wrap it's legs around kids. Another one called Cocoa as it was a brown sausage dog. The one that bit me on the ankle just as I was skating past it's owner's house I can't remember it's name ..I had to have a tetanus injection for that, but I do recall the owner's name of Gorman who worked in the ticket office of Scholes Pictures. Just a bit of useless info.

A Bassett Hound from our street used to come to School with me every morning,and be there waiting for me at home time..he was noted for going to the zebra crossing on Wallgate where all the traffic would stop for him..one day he was walking with me and suddenly had a fit...some men picked him up and took him home..I wasn't very old,and don't know what happened to him after that..his name was "Major"just thought I'd put this info on as a tribute to him.

Hi. I am Jimmy Barkers daughter, he's not in the photo but you have one of my uncles wrongly named. It is not John Barker but his youngest brother Kevin in this photo. Both John and Kevin are still alive. Sadly Brian and my dad Jimmy both passed away over 20 years ago now
