This is the double railway bridge that went over Darlington St. and Warrington road, demolished circa 1967/68
What a great, and no doubt important piece of film footage that is. What a shame they did to Scholes, the place looked like a little village before they demolished the houses to make those awful tower blocks. And look at the place now, it must be one of the least desirable places to live in Wigan.
Plenty of cars about that are now classics, quite a few Triumph Herald's spotted. Notice none of those annoying hi viz jackets or hard hats worn by the workers, no barriers or fences to stop kids from exploring, and the days when it was fine to film people in a public swimming pool, now today you can't even film your own kids swimming, yet they have they have CCTV cameras filming everyone in the pool half naked (and god knows where all the footage ends up, probably GCHQ stored on a database), so more destroying of peoples privacies in the same safety or whatever the next excuse is.
