Nice one Cullie, next time clean off those crumbs from the work top.lol
I take it you haven't seen item # 27011 on the Springs Branch page then cullie ?
Cullie - Your Union Centenary badge is certainly an eye-catcher! It obviously means a lot to you; as indeed Jimmy Lonesome's personal copy had meant to him - proven by its judicious placement at item 27011.
Philip. Your relation, Joe Gormley was a very astute N.U.M. leader, as was acknowledged by his elevation to the "House of Lords'". Am I correct, or not, in having read somewhere earlier that he was a relation of yours?.
Albert - You've read correctly, but I don't know exactly how I'm related to him, in all honesty. My late father met him just once and took that opportunity of asking how 'they are' related. All I can recall of my father's re-telling (apart from 'cousin' being mentioned) is Joe Gormley's response to my father's query; 'So you are our Billy's lad, then, are you?'. Hope this helps and that you also find 2017 to become 'set fair'.
Remember Jimmy Sloan being ASLEF rep at Branch ,,,
Philip. It must be somewhere in your families ancestral history, as to his relationship, and to have a nobleman amongst your lineage, is quite something.
I have Joe Gormley's book "battered cherub" he signed it for me. You are right Albert, Joe was astute as a union man. Scargill wasn't fit to lick his boots
