Found in a 1980s brochure produced by St Wilfrid's Church. Unusual because it shows a walled car park in the Market Place - with cars parked over the site of the village well.

A similar photo taken in 1967 but from the opposite direction is on Places, Standish, Page 5.

If there was a wall, as shown in this pic, at the time of the 1967 shot, Roy, the cars were obscuring it.

There was a wall there, room for about 6 cars , the well was further back.

In the 1967 photo Alan there wasn't a well, not sure without a bit of research when it was rebuilt.

Rev Long, in the 1967 photo that Roy referred to, the house and shop behind the cars is where James M Ainscough was born and lived his early life. Of course it hadn't been converted to a shop then.

Hiya JK, are you well ?

Hiya Roy, well guessed! Yes I'm well thanks and hope you are too. I've noticed your comments when it's about Standish or rugby. Still not heard from JWF for some time but I'll get round to phoning him eventually.
