Taken at Haigh Steam Rally, Haigh Hall, August 2002. Car is an Austin A35 van with the words "Palace Arcade" printed on the side. Used to see this van around the Ashton area with a florist sign on the side, but as far as I know it hasn't been seen for at least 10 years.

I'm pretty sure this van was owned by a chap called Hughie. I can't remember his surname or where he lived , but he used to drive a tipper for S&A Gaskell in the early 80's when I worked for them. I seem to recall him telling me that he was trained either as a chef or a baker, or something along those lines. I haven't seen him since 1981 although I've seen the van knocking about once or twice.
