The boy stood in the middle at the front in the jumper was a member of the Wigan Boys Club. I know this because he was my dad Duggie Mee. He told me all about this boat, his love for it and he had a copy of this photo which he kept in a scrap book amongst others. He was 17 at the time. Shortly after this photo was taken, he joined the Merchant Navy then war broke out. He witnessed the sinking of the Graf Spee, Battle of the Atlantic and ended up in the sea on more than one occasion. He even got a medal for bravery. He stayed in the Merchant Navy for 20 years until 1957 when he gave it all up to marry my mother. Ended up working on the railway at Springs Branch until he retired. I think he must have had a passion for transport!
