Market Place Wigan, the photo was taken in 1894 by A. R. Quinton. Quinton was on a bike ride from Lands End to John O'Groats at the time. He was an artist who was later well known for painting landscape and town views for postcards, over 2000 of them.

Wonderful photo. Craddock's shoe shop was still there in the 1950s maybe later.

I should imagine the cameraman was standing outside what is now Barclays Bank. Lowes as was!
