They say if you have a donkey you may have to leave it to someone in your will. Donkeys can live to a good age as Ould Bobby. Our Daniel was 30. Nice to see a monument like this cared for, nice pic.

PS. Go to the Donkey Sanctuary in Sidmouth & see the good work they do.

Dave, as soon as I saw this I said to myself, that's Kevin Duffey, but Appley Bridge was mentioned, so it threw me off, thinking it couldn't be...but that was last night, 11:30, I was tired.. I have just looked again and yes, it is Kevin... Oul d body 54 years old, he must have had a good life... There is a family, couple hundred yards up the road from me, they have horses and a donkey, every now and then I hear him 'Hee Hawing, makes me smile when I hear that...

The donkey ould Boby belonged to Willian Stopford the disabled landlord of the Alison Arms pub, he used to use it to get around the village.

The date I think has been partly worn away, possibly (18)77?? You can see a patch on the surface of the stone which has layered off.

Can't believe this, my granddad used to tell me that there was a headstone of a donkey on the pub car park... for years I never knew if it was true, this has just confirmed it!!!
