Great pic. We called that just the Playing Fields.
Houses are Mucklows, off Bryn Rd South/Alexandra Rd.

I'm not sure if it was George V or George VI Playing fields, there used to be a sign at the Queens Road entrance.
You can't see it in this photo but the brook is the other side of the fence. In my memory there were shrubs and trees all along there.

Lovely photo. Shame they had to ruin it with more houses. I find Ashton in general to have a quite unfriendly vibe about it, depends where abouts I suppose but usually around more desirable areas like Liverpool rd and Lowbank rd area. Mostly full of ignorant and backstabbing neighbours who'll complain about the slightest bit of noise.
