Wonderful photo - a record of workers from nearly 100 years ago, who helped make Britain Great. Hope someone can pick out their relatives.

The workers' in this type of industry deserved every penny they earned, and a lot more besides. The smell was appalling. I recollect the smell of the bone works, at the extreme end of Miry Lane, and then across three or four acres of spare land, where the works was situated.

Don't know anybody R. It was in my dads photo's. Thought it deserved to be saved for longer than I could keep it.

Just noticed on original all appear to have badges. Could it be a workers day out?

Barbara - as it seems to be mainly the men who are wearing badges, they could be 'On War Service Badges' which were issued to workers in essential industries, to save them being pestered by people wanting to know why they weren't in uniform.
